1st Generation

Before the independence of Malaysia, in 1952, late Abdul Muthalif started a stall to provide food for the people in Balik Pulau, Penang with traditional flavours and spices as a small business. After the overwhelming support from patrons, he established a small business in 1955. Thus, Thaqwa was founded.

2nd Generation

In 1976, Abdul Muthalif’s son Mohamed Ishaq opened another stall in Old Klang Road, Kuala Lumpur , with the experience he learned from his father. It provided food and service from dusk to dawn and later became one of the pioneers of mamak stalls. He later opened another stall in Selayang Jaya (1981).

3rd Generation

In 2008, Riaz Kan, son of Ahmad Lattheeb, partnered with Abul Harid, son of Mohamed Ishaq, to open a restaurant at Balakong Jaya, Seri Kembangan. This marked a major step into the restaurant industry. The popularity of our food and service allowed us to expand from small stalls into proper restaurant establishments.

Out of great effort and mission, it has now grown to 10 outlets to date , providing restaurant service with enthusiasm.

The founders of Restoran Thaqwa strive for constant perfection and innovation. Our partners, chefs, and staff take tremendous pride in creating and serving every dish and experience. We are humbled by the support and remain committed to our customers’ satisfaction.
